Holy s#@% can this thing boost.
I was riding on my surfboard at the slick in 13 knots. That's the lightest I've ever stayed upwind.
Then weather built and I was holding it down in 25 before things got crazy. Of course this guy brings out his camera, so the courage comes out. My lord, that sucker boosts. I was so lit that when I was edging up wind, I could ride almost my whole tack with no hands. Lit.
Thanks, man. I love this thing.
I definitely understand why Dave thought the 14m is enough.
Can't wait to dial it in a little more.

“I loved them and had an amazing time getting to try them out. Thanks a bunch for setting that event up. I would say that your demo session was probably the best kiting event that I have ever been to! Just great people, great kites, and awesome riding in super clean wind!
I would say that a pretty amazing set up would be a 6nano , 9nano, 12 thruster, 14 thruster.
How much is that 6m nano complete ? Also, i am getting packed up for st. croix. If you are still willing to let me try out the Mako would there be a time that I could swing by and pick her up ?
Hope all is well and thanks again,
-Duncan”
"Dear Eclipse Kites
As you know, this past weekend we had an amazing Eclipse Snow Kiting event on Oneida Lake, NY! Bill Myers your new North East Rep deserves tremendous kudos for putting it together and getting the word out, not to mention for having innumerable brand-new 2008 Eclipse kites on hand, pumped and ready for us all to demo! I personally had the pleasure of putting several hours in, clocking wicked speeds and boosting huge airs, on the 14m and later the 12m Thruster! What a great kite! I know I speak for several of us locals when I say that the impeccable attention to detail, fit and finish; the solid construction; the super-fast turning and the beautifully predictable power curve impressed all of us.
For me, the factor that really stood out, after extensive testing, was the amazing and reliable HANG-TIME I was getting during my jumps! Once I got up, there seemed to be a secondary lift and glide time that allowed me to do whatever I needed with my skis - a back scratcher , a grab, a cross or a combo - and I seemed to have all the time in the world to really hold a pose, then swing my skis back and spot my landing. I can't even imagine how great these new Eclipse kites are gonna ROCK on the water! We'll soon see!!!!
Some technical notes:
I was amazed at the range of power afforded by the rather short throw of the bar on the rope (as compared to the bow kites I have been flying, with 2 different rigs each with several feet of bar travel.) I was concerned, at first, how fully the kite would depower if I let go the bar. But surprisingly, I could park the kite on the ice, off to one side, with the bar out - even without pulling the depower strap, and could still depower it more if needed. I'm not sure how you got so much range with such a short throw, but I imagine it has everything to do with the pulleys and bridle system.
The bar-Ez lock system turned out to work quite well, tho' I was skeptical at first glance. I am used to a bar stopper that is easily re-positioned on the fly with one hand, but this one was even easier. HOWEVER - When the stop-cleat goes all the way to the top of the rope, it gets muddled up with the red & black de-power pulls and can be hard to grab on the fly. Also, when the Allen screw on the black stopper ball is loosened to allow easy sliding on the rope, it becomes a sharp hazard. I caught my glove on it a few times. I'll probably remove the screw completely.
The red & black depower straps were not only idiot-proof, but very effective and really easy to deploy, especially when RE-powering, which I have found on some systems is much more difficult that DE-powering. I did find that when fully-powered, the red pull-tab was sitting part-way thru the loop on the black strap, but this was a minor issue.
Overall, these kites were a huge hit with our group - thanks so much for making this event possible!

"Hi Dimitri! As I say on the phone and not sure if you've received it, just a brief message to thank you for the excellent service we've got from you and your company, in term of efficacy to save our vacations.
We now know why we chose to buy Eclipse Kites.Pleasure to meet you one day,
Thanks again!Isabel and Martin, the "québécois" !"
Hi Dimitri,Hope you made it back home ok.
Thanks for making the time to come over here, it was great to ride with you, and thanks for letting me borrow your kites. Unfortunately i have to go back to riding my old kites again now, as i cant wait to get a set of thrusters to play with (i do think they are awesome kites, quick with power and light bar pressure, which is the perfect combination). Luckily Ollie has the 10m so i can borrow that from him when he kites!!! I hope its still ok I can come up in May to pick up some gear (looks like the St Lucia crew will all be coming up!) Next time your in St Lucia we'll show you a bit more of the island and the other kite spots.Hope you get some good winds.
See you soonBeth"
"When was the last time that the president or CEO of a company responded to your email. When was the last time that both of them did? Did they respond within 15 minutes of your original request? Did they send 8 emails over the course of an evening to try and resolve your issue? Did the final one arriving at midnight? On a Saturday? For product out of warranty?I had an issue with a ’07 Thruster 12M, bought from a Canadian Dealer. I was unable to contact that dealer so thought I’d try the company directly. I can absolutely confirm that Chris and Dimitri did all the above. Though I wasn’t entirely happy with the dealer I can say unequivocally say that the effort put out by Eclipse management is second to none. When was the last time Pete, Shannon or Robbie replied to your email?
The Eclipse gentlemen have staked their reputations on the kites they produce and have committed themselves to providing the real “Old School” customer service. They have my respect, admiration and future business.
I know many are saying Pimp…Fraud….low poster….in fact I’m just a guy that loves kitesurfing and loves flying kickass kites from a kickass company.

“Gotta tell you Dimitri, everyone really appreciates you been always available, keeping your human side, being humble and always responding to email. Your nature and personality is what makes you better than all others in the kite industry. This adds a lot to the good quality of your products, and will bring you much success.
Gotta remember that in these days many products are about the same in quality and performance. Is the customer service and people like you what differentiates it. Proof of it is that there are tons of people that have never tried an Eclipse kite but are anxiously waiting for the 09's to arrive to buy one. These people will buy because of the good image you, Chris and your team have portrayed for your company.
Happy selling!!!!”
